Electronics for Architectural Model

I was asked to design and build some bespoke electronic hardware for a large app development firm in London.

Their project involved providing an interface between an iPad app and a physical model of a housing development - a new apartment block.

The model contained over 100 LED light bulbs, each lighting up a different apartment within the model.

I paired my bespoke circuit boards with an Arduino UNO which I programmed to respond to the data served from the iPad app.

When an estate agent selected a particular apartment within the app, the corresponding LED lit up the model enabling the estate agent to show his or her client exactly which apartment they were speaking about.

The circuitry was based around a relatively simple multiplexing design - but was designed to be modular, enabling testing to be straight forward and the system to accommodate as many LEDs as necessary.
